Best Dressed: Sheath
1. Anne Hathaway in Prada. I love this look on Anne. The dress is classic and very Audrey-esque, which also matches her new hair style and the faint pink compliments her skin tone well. She looked stunning and the back was amazing. The dress would also look great in black, white or a dark navy blue....or really any color from A to Z.
2. Naomi Watts in Giorgio Armani. To me, this look is the winner of the night. She stood out, looked absolutely gorgeous and kept it interesting and different compared to the other ladies. Very well done.
3. Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani. Jessica Chastain tends to be a hit or miss on the red carpet and this is a total hit. The color of the dress is great with her hair and skin tone. She's had trouble in the past with choosing the right silhouette for her body so I'm glad she got it down for the Academy Awards.
4. Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton. Reese does it again! She looks classic hollywood as usual and the cobalt blue matches her pretty eyes. She never goes wrong so what can I say...I'm not surprised.
Best Dressed: Gowns
1. Sally Field in vintage Valentino. Sally Field has done great keeping an elegant look and staying somewhat youthful as she ages. This dress looks amazing on her and was certainly a good way to stand out given that she was nominated.
2. Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta. Amy is so cute and she looks darling in this gown. While the color is a little subdued, she still looks great keeps it simple yet distinct.
3. Jennifer Aniston in Valentino. Jen never goes wrong with any look. In fact, I don't think I've ever disagreed with anything she's ever worn - although we do have a similar style so that may be why. I love her hair but I would have pulled it back to keep it a little more formal with such a full gown. I love that she chose a vivid and electric color rather than sticking to her usual neutral.
Worst Dressed
1. Brandi Glanville in own design. Oh boy. This is just completely wrong. It made sense once I realized this dress was designed by Brandi but it's a little inappropriate for the occasion. It looks about two sizes two small and the embellishment along the slit and bottom look like a cheap table drape. Sadly, I can't say that I'm surprised given what she's been known to don on the RHOBH.
2. Melissa McCarthy in David Meister Signature. Poor Melissa. I love her and she's had some trouble in the past with dressing for awards shows. I think the entire look is just a mess. Too drapey and the hair is a little 80's. She's a beautiful woman but I tend to think that if you're slightly larger you should have something more form-fitting that is a darker color.
3. Helen Hunt in H&M. If this dress was tailored better, it'd be perfect. It looks a size or two too big and needs to be seriously ironed and steamed. I love the color and her accessories but it just looks a little messy. What I do love is that it is from H&M which is rarely worn to the more extravagant tinseltown events.
4. Jane Fonda in Versace. Jane looks amazing but the color is wrong for this event. Other than that, I think she did great. The cutout back was stellar and she clearly knows how to dress for her body...I just thought she looked a little bit too much like a neon yellow highlighter.
Overall, the red carpet this year for the Oscar's was more of a success than usual. My worst dressed picks have been way worse in the past so it was hard to choose this year. A few of my other best dressed faves that didn't make the cut included Amanda Seyfried, Sandra Bullock, Jennifer Hudson, Charlize Theron, Kelly Osbourne, Kristen Chenoweth, Ben Affleck, Justin Theroux and Daniel Day Lewis who rocked a fantastic navy blue tux.

Totally! I'm a total sucker for reality TV and was shocked to even see Brandi there!
DeleteI loved Amy Adams dress last night! It was so unexpected for her and I thought she looked so stunning! If I was wearing a dress/gown like that, I would most definitely have pulled a Jennifer Lawrence and had a little tumble. Overall though, I didn't think there were any really travesties in the dress department, just maybe some poor choices.

Me too! She looked great although she always does so I wasn't surprised. I agree about the overall fashion though - no horrible choices or unbelievably bad ensembles...just a few underwhelming or not so on the mark! Thanks for reading!
DeleteI love the gowns! They are absolutely stunning.
